Welcome to the Yolo Prostate Cancer Support Group.
We’re here to help each other.
2021 meeting schedule and locations
We serve men primarily in the lower Sacramento Valley region of inland Northern California encompassing Yolo, Solano and Sacramento counties.
We invite you to subscribe to our email list to receive advance notice of our monthly meeting dates, locations and topics.
Prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, our group conducted monthly in-person meetings, in Davis and in Woodland (at locations shown below) on an alternating basis. Since then, we have continued meeting by video conference using the Zoom platform on the same schedule — on the second Monday evening of each month beginning at 7 p.m. We will resume meeting in person when that once again becomes permissible and safe.
Woodland (odd-numbered months)
2001 East Street, Woodland, CA
Davis (even-numbered months)
315 E. 14th Street, Davis, CA

FUNDING: We do not assess dues, nor do we charge for admission to our meetings. This website and our periodic publications are funded through generous donations from individual Yolo Prostate Cancer Support Group participants, to whom we extend our gratitude.
We are grateful to the Woodland Community and Senior Center and to the Yolo County Library for letting us hold our meetings in their facilities in the past, and we look forward to eventual resumption of in-person meetings when public health protocols enable us to do so.

Prostate Cancer Foundation offers patient guide and dietary recommendations
The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) has updated its Prostate Cancer Patient Guide with information about prostate cancer care during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as other topics. The PCF website enables you to obtain the 2021 edition of the Prostate Cancer Patient Guide in either printed or PDF form.
The PCF also has developed a "prostate cancer diet" to help promote overall health of men who have been diagnosed with or treated for prostate cancer. The "Living with prostate cancer" section of the PCF website also includes a "periodic table" of "microbiome-friendly" foods conducive to healthy living, as well as sample recipes, exercise guidelines and suggestions about maintaining mental and emotional health.
The YOLO PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP, established in Yolo County, California, in March 2006, welcomes men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, have recurrent disease, or have an interest or expertise in the topic. We serve residents of Davis, Woodland, Winters, West Sacramento, Dixon, Esparto and other communities in Yolo, Sacramento and Solano counties.
Many of our meetings include presentations by experts. Our guest speakers have included urologists, oncologists, radiation therapists, medical research scientists and other practitioners. We also schedule roundtable discussions to enable men who are recently diagnosed or merely curious to learn from the experiences of men who have been treated for prostate cancer or are being monitored through watchful waiting.
The Yolo Prostate Cancer Support Group, founded by Harold Honeyfield of Davis, is a community service organization operated by unpaid volunteers.
